We teach ISTD modern exam classes and lyrical dance
The opposite of classical ballet with its strict rules for precision, modern dance and lyrical are much more interpretive disciplines, giving dancers more scope for freedom of expression and natural movement. Dancers can interpret steps and music in that way that tells engaging stories that captivates audiences and dancers alike
ISTD syllabus
Like our tap and ballet classes, we dedicate a portion of class time in our modern dance classes to teaching set syllabus work, which supports dancers to achieve world-recognised graded ISTD examinations (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance).
Free work
But we also spend time on free modern, lyrical and jazz work, experimenting with influences from lots of different dance pieces and drawing inspiration from the likes of film scores, contemporary musicians and cultural sounds..
performance technique
Not only is this really fun and engaging, but it also ensures dancers develop great performance technique, which they get the chance to show off in our regular shows.

We offer modern dance classes for children and young people of all ages right, up to student grades.
