Combo tap and modern class
For age groups up to our student class, we teach tap in our Saturday school as part of a combination class which covers both tap dancing and modern dance in one session.
Sensibly sized tap classes
Our classes are sensibly sized so we can focus on both technique and building a repertoire of real tap steps that make for dazzling show dances.
SK Dance Studio follows the ISTD Tap syllabus
We follow the world recognised ISTD syllabus (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing) in our tap dancing classes with classes taught by fully qualified and experienced teachers. Our students work towards achieving graded ISTD tap examinations, learning progressively more difficult steps and amalgamations along the way as they move through the grades.
Dazzling show tap numbers
With a reputation for producing dazzling tap choreography featuring dancers of all ages, we’re regularly invited to perform in professional theatres, which is always an amazing experience for our students.
As well as teaching the ISTD Tap syllabus, we also use free tap work sessions to develop the performance technique of our tap dancers. This gives the opportunity to try out different styles of tap to really varied music and helps to keep learning really fun and fresh.
Exceptional tap teaching
SK Dance Studio has long been recognised for exceptional tap teaching. We teach ‘real’ tap steps, right from our very youngest age groups – which means when it comes to showtime, our dancers do way more than skip around in tap shoes!
From timesteps to Maxi Fords, wings and riffs to “shuffle off to buffalo”, our perfect mix of syllabus work and performance tap makes for dazzling all round tap dancers.
